Travel Ban Canada

Officially, the travel ban is further extended for travelers from India but not from Pakistan. The ban imposes restrictions for all direct passengers and business flights from India till 21 July 2021.

But protective equipment and Cargo flights carrying vaccines and are exempt from this decision and will continue to be allowed into Canada. Indian travelers still might have a chance to come to Canada via an indirect route and will require a COVID-19 test from their last point of departure. This states that they will have to have a long layover in another country. Whereas travelers from Pakistan are exempted from this ban and no flight restrictions are imposed.

Canada’s Minister of Transport, Omar Alghabra stated “Given the number of COVID-19 cases continues to be very high in India, we have extended our flight restrictions for this country, we will continue to assess the evolving situation and determine appropriate action going forward.” Bill Blair, Public safety minister tweeted and confirmed that Canada’s border restrictions with all countries including the U.S. have been extended until July 21, 2021

What are the restrictions imposed on travelers for Canada?

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and recent decisions by the Canadian government restrictions have been imposed on travelers across the globe coming to Canada to ensure safety for Canadian citizens.

All travelers to Canada are required to show a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before travelling, or a positive COVID-19 test administered between 14 and 90 days before travel.

Air travelers are required to take another test when they arrive in Canada.

For travelers coming from India, the first COVID-19 test must have been administered in a third country.

Air travelers are then required to quarantine at a government-approved hotel for three days while they wait for the results of their COVID-19 test taken on arrival. This measure does not apply to fully vaccinated travelers.

Once they are cleared, travelers still need to continue their 14-day quarantine. The three-day hotel stay counts towards the mandatory 14 days.
